Lisiane Matsdorff

Lisiane Matsdorff - Coach, Midwest Xplosion VolleyballLisiane Matsdorff is preparing for her first season as volleyball graduate assistant for the Bearcat volleyball program. Matsdorff is from Porto Alegre, Brazil and came to the USA in 2009 to improve her English language.

Matsdorff is a 1987 graduate of Colegio Nossa Senhora da Gloria where she played at the medium and high school level. She graduated from Rio Grande do Sul Federal University in 1992 with her Bachelor of Physical Education. Since then she started her volleyball career as a head coach in Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil working at all levels of volleyball. Players from the Olympic Brazilian teams such as Thiago Alves, Fernanda Garay, and Priscila Daroit were her players for Matsdorff. Karen Rivatto, who was ranked 1st in the nation for kills at the NJCAA level in 2010 was also a player for Matsdorff in Brazil.

Matsdorff in 2001 was the first woman head coach of her State to prepare the junior team for the National Tournament. She participates as a volunteer assistant in the practice of Brazilian Olympic teams and in the practice of Women’s Junior National Team of Brazil. She worked as a volunteer in the Pan American Games of Rio de Janeiro in 2007. Here in USA, Matsdorff spent the last two seasons studying and working as a Volleyball Assistant Coach at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, CO. NJC finished the last season in 9th place in the national ranking of NJCAA- Division 1. Matsdorff also worked as a head coach at Northeastern Volleyball Club with the 15’s and 16’s volleyball teams.
