About

We are a non-for-profit organization that is dedicated to enriching the lives of young athletes who are looking to pursue a higher level of competition while being a part of a close-knit atmosphere.  Midwest Xplosion understands that you have many quality volleyball programs in Southwest Missouri to choose from.  We hope that you will take the time to see what we have to offer.

Our Mission Statement:
Midwest Xplosion will provide an opportunity for young women who hope to continue their volleyball career at the next level to reach their fullest potential both on and off the volleyball court. The club will focus efforts on commitment, team, and forging the tight bonds of a close-knit club while competing at the highest possible level.

Goals:
Southwest Missouri offers a wide array of volleyball clubs which each provide a unique opportunity for athletes to develop skill. The concept of Midwest Xplosion is to provide top athletes with the opportunity to train at the highest level while being a part of a close-knit atmosphere. The design is to give advanced athletes who are team oriented the opportunity to further their volleyball skills in a training environment which emphasizes the importance of family unity, the team concept, and the complete development of the athlete.

Tournament Schedule:
We will participate in at LEAST six local, regional, and national tournaments including the HOA regional championships and some national qualifiers throughout the club season (from tryouts in November to Nationals in the end of June/beginning of July).  We expect all of our teams to participate in at least one “open” level national qualifier per season, giving you a glimpse into the highest level of volleyball you could possibly play at your respective age level.  This provides you with the most fulfilling competition schedule that challenges both your physical and mental acuity on the volleyball court.  For those of you continuing your volleyball career at the collegiate level, this preparation gets you ready for the year-round participation that will be expected of you at whatever program you enter.

Myth vs. Fact about MXVB:

Myth: Rosters are preset prior to tryouts.

FACT: Roster are not set until AFTER players that try out with us accept the positions given.  We will NEVER offer positions early, and we always follow HOA rules and regulations regarding this sensitive area.

Myth: To play for MXVB is more expensive than similar clubs that play at the Regional/National level.

FACT: The great majority of club volleyball teams regionally (KC, St. Louis) and nationally easily pay four to five times what we charge.  Additionally, those clubs will add expenses without warning as the season progresses.  We will give you the exact cost breakdown for MXVB at our informational meeting.  No hidden costs will ever pop up, ever.

Myth: MXVB is an elitist club that only allows certain people to try out for our teams.

FACT: All players of all levels from 14s through 18s are welcome to tryout and play for any of our teams.  Our teams will carry between eight and ten players, and we evaluate all of our potential players with the help of all coaches in the club, not just one particular coach’s opinion.
Myth: Coaches at MXVB are not accessible.

FACT: All coaches at MXVB are easily accessible, whether it be through email, phone, or just coming into one of our practices to say ‘hi’.  Our goal is to maximize the potential of every player in the Springfield area, not just kids that we’re familiar with.  We even have coaches that provide lessons for any and all interested in receiving them.

Myth: The MXVB staff requires players to commit while still at tryouts.

FACT: Not only is this strictly forbidden by HOA, but this is an unethical practice that is, simply, bad business.  We do ask that athletes are fair and honest to other athletes, and if you’re not interested in playing with MXVB just let us know so that teams can be filled with players interested in playing for us.  This is just a common courtesy that is expected of all mature athletes, and we treat you as such.
